For many luxury-property owners in Turks & Caicos, closing is the beginning of ownership – not the end of the need for local knowledge.
Clients may spend only part of the year on island. When they leave, they cannot simply drive down the street to see whether work is progressing, find the right contractor or solve a logistical problem.
That is where 25+ years of living and working in Turks & Caicos becomes useful in a practical way. I have developed relationships with people and service providers across the islands, including resources for shipping, freight forwarding and property-related work.
A good example involved a $7.5 million property I sold in Long Bay. During closing, we identified items that needed attention. The clients wanted the property and were prepared to complete certain upgrades themselves.
After closing, I walked the property with them, identified remaining items including a roof replacement, and helped facilitate that work while they were away.
The value was not just getting a roof replaced. It was the comfort of knowing that someone on island who understood the property and the circumstances could help keep an eye on the process.
